This poignant and sensitive story deals with bravery, friendship and sacrifice and is an unforgettable page-turner of an adventure. Readers from 9+ will be enthralled by this moving, bittersweet tale.
Just read this book as a bedtime story to my 8-year-old son - we both loved it! He asked to go to bed early so we could read more of it! Wonderfully written - this was our first experience of Michael Morpurgo but I doubt it will be our last! Highly recommend.
Excellent, very believable story. -
All I will say is if you know a 9- to 11-year-old confident reader, BUY this book. What an excellent, heartbreaking story.
