4 years +

With three books each spread across one of 12 different reading levels, Key Words with Peter and Jane uses some of the most frequent words in the English language as a starting point for learning to read successfully and confidently.

Series A introduces new words, Series B provides further practice of these words and then Series C links reading with writing and phonics. All the words introduced in Series A and B are then reinforced in Series C.

Scientifically researched and world renowned, the books follow Peter and Jane as they explore and have adventures. The traditional Ladybird style of artwork makes these great for parents to read along with children, too.

Thank you for these wonderful books -

Your company has allowed me to buy the best children's books at an affordable price for the past couple of years now, and I must thank you, as my daughter has gained the ability to read by the age of 3 and loves reading these books. She is turning 4 this month and I would love you guys to get some new Ladybird books in as she now has them all so we have to buy them for £5 each from Waterstones. Thank you.

Hours of reading! -

It is going to take a considerable time to read through the set of the Ladybird Key Words. They are well structured and I am sure will be an asset while teaching my granddaughter to read.

Recommended for children who don't get on with the curriculum -

Bought for my granddaughter who wasn't interested in school titles, which she found incredibly boring. She took to these quite easily and is now flourishing. Brilliant books (I still remember learning with Janet and John!) Highly recommended because of the repetition.

Daughter is not interested in these :-( -

I'm sitting looking at this beautiful box of books, and can I get my 5-year-old daughter to read them..? No. She loved the first couple which I had borrowed to try out with her, this box set is incredible value on this website and I loved P & J as a child.

Unfortunately, as we have progressed, I find she is bored with the repetition, even though I am sure that it's very beneficial educationally. So, sadly, I suspect these will be donated to a good home. I'm sad!

Great books to build reading confidence! -

We live in Sweden and I have been buying books in English from UK for my daughter, among which are from Book People. She will start Grade 1 in autumn and English is her third language. Right now she is at Oxford Reading Tree 5-6 stage and usually read new books in low voice for the first time but when it comes to this series she reads so loudly and fluently showing that she is so "sure" and "confident" and "happy".
I don't think the series are particularly interesting but very effective in leaning key words for reading and build up confidence. Impressive!
