You Wouldn't Want to Live Without... Collection - 12 Books (Collection)

-

7 years +

With colourful and witty illustrations throughout, the 12 books in this collection will help children understand what life would be like without toilets (ewww!); gravity (fun and floaty?); and the internet (gasp, horror!).

There's also a book that shows what life would be like without books... horrible, we're sure you will agree. Perfect for budding historians, these books tell the fascinating and world-changing stories of technological innovations, professions and natural phenomena that most of us take for granted.

The artwork makes them wonderfully accessible and there are also explanatory diagrams to showcase the scientific and historical developments.

Great set -

My son who is now almost 9 has had this set for nearly two years, and still enjoys reading them, he can manage them independently and loves to come and tell me the cool stuff he has learned from them. Great, little reference books and good value for money.

My 5-year old loves them! -

My 5-year-old daughter absolutely loved these. She sat and read them all back-to-back! She is a very good reader and loves to learn and now wants the rest of the collection, so I am on the hunt for Christmas! Excellent value for money, I think any engaged child will love these.

Information overload? -

You get a lot of bang for your book with this set, but almost too much. For me, the information is set out a bit like a wikipedia/google dump. The pages are very very similar to one another and so the books can get quite tiresome quite quickly. Good for reference but I think any 7- to 9-year-old is going to struggle to sit and enjoy these independently.

Lots of facts presented in an engaging format -

I ordered these for my son, who is very into non-fiction books lately. I had a flick through them and they look pretty interesting. Sometimes the illustrations look a little outdated, but that shouldn't matter too much.
