George Baxter is perfectly comfortable and content in his life and has no problem with the predictable way things were going. But then Win, his wife of 26 years, dies.
With his loyal dog Monty by his side, George throws himself into his work as an antiques dealer. His business resides right in the heart of his village and he gets to meet all sorts of characters. But then local widow Sylvia Newsome steps into his life and he begins to imagine a new future...
However, there are more revelations to come and over the course of an English summer, George uncovers some startling mysteries from his past that may well affect his future.
Abi Oliver's debut novel, A New Map of Love is a startling read that will lift your spirits and break your heart. Presented here in hardback, it's funny and tender and will appeal to those who enjoyed A Man Called Ove and The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared.
I've given this book 5* even though I haven't finished reading it as it's refreshingly different from other books I've read recently, it's about a recently widowed man who is an antiques dealer and is looking to have a new beginning with a new lady. Nicely written with some humour, looking forward to reading the rest.
