Red House Reader Review

Reader review: Pip and Posy: The Scary Monster - Paperback - 9780857632432

This book is a great book by the guy that illustrates The Gruffalo and other Julia Donaldson stories – we love his quirky characters and illustrations, they have become a firm favourite with both of my children (and secretly my husband and I too!). Pip and Posy and the Scary Monster is a book about Posy and her activities on a rainy day. She decides to bake and is waiting for her cakes to be ready when she is disturbed by a monster! The monster turns out to be Pip, her friend, and then they have some fun together. The book is bright, colourful and engaging – James loved the characters and got very excited with the monster! The story is gentle and not at all scary - James spent his time telling me what he could see and making noises for the monster – needless to say his favourite word was ‘cake’! There is also a QR code on the inside cover which, when scanned with a smart phone or tablet, takes you to a reading of the book. It is read at a good pace by a lovely friendly voice, and has great sound effects for the story. This book is a welcome addition to any bookshelf – we love it!
