The winner of Book People's Bedtime Story Competition 2017, Frasier Cox's There's a Boy Just Like Me is a heart-warming tale of friendship between the author and a refugee who shares the same interests and childhood hopes and dreams.

In 2017, we asked children aged 5 to 11 to write a bedtime story between 200 and 800 words on the theme of friendship. The response was astounding and out of over 1,300 entries, Frasier's story was selected as the winner by a panel of judges that included TV favourite Claudia Winkleman and radio DJ and Radio Boy author Christian O'Connell. Frasier's story was chosen for his focus on important issues and beautiful storytelling.

At least 35% of the price of the book will be donated to Save the Children, a charity that fights every single day for children's futures. Sold exclusively through us at BookPeople.co.uk, Frasier's book features illustrations from top children's book illustrator Alison Brown and published by Little Tiger.

Please note that this book is exempt from all promotions due to its charitable donation.

Fantastic book -

I bought this book on a whim as part of a larger order. I am SO glad that I did. The topic of war and refugees is generally something not discussed with children, but I couldn't help but feel my son needs to be aware of some of the injustice in the world and how lucky we are to live in a safe country.

The book doesn't use shock value, it just very matter of factly described the life of two very similar boys living in different parts of the world. It brought up some great questions from my son (4, nearly 5) and I'm certain that he now has a greater understanding of how different children's lives are in other parts of the world.

BUY THIS BOOK.

There's a Boy Just Like Me -

I bought this book for my grandson and found it thought provoking, I hope he took it on board.

We donated the book to his pre-school as he is moving up to 'big' school this September and it was gratefully accepted as the message it sends is important for young minds to grasp.

Excellent for all ages -

Donated a copy to my daughter's previous infant school. Headmistress said it would be really useful and teacher said she'd seen it advertised and wanted to know where to get it.
