Despite being the son of a former leading mafioso, Detective Leone Scamarcio has managed to establish himself as one of the leading (and most honest) men in the Rome police force.

When Scamarcio is handed a file of compromising photographs of a high-profile Italian politician and told to 'deal with it', he knows this is going to open a big can of worms. When a young man is found stabbed to death and a young girl disappears, Scamarcio's job becomes ever more complicated. Especially as every lead seems to implicate the Italian prime minister.

Scamarcio soon learns that nothing is quite as it seems and the high society are hiding all kinds of dark secrets. Set against a stunning Italian backdrop, these crime mysteries will keep you guessing and are sure to have you racing through the pages and eagerly reaching for the next book...

This collection includes books 1-3 in Nadia Dalbuono's Detective Leone Scamarcio series.

Implausible and over-complicated -

I got through all three but would not be looking for book 4. The plots are convoluted and become totally implausible instead of delivering a clever twist.

Read like a script for a trashy Italian TV programme -

I didn't take to this book at all (I didn't finish book one). The language was clunky (perhaps poor translation?), the mafia plot was convoluted and not explained very clearly, and not far into the book there was a spurious and unlikely sex scene which made me think of trashy Italian TV. So if that's your thing, fine, otherwise perhaps give it a miss.
