Praised by Dermot O'Leary, two-time Olympian Matthew Syed's Children's Illustrated and Non-Fiction British Book Award-winning You Are Awesome is a motivational book that encourages children to challenge the beliefs that hold them back.
Full of tips and advice that will inspire a more positive mindset, it's encouraging and empowering reading for any introverted children. Matthew explains how having a negative attitude and thinking you can't do things more often than not leads to not being able to carry out tasks.
However, if your children can build their resilience and change their mindset, things could be very different. He looks at how everyone from Mozart to Serena Williams got to the top of their respective fields through hard work and dedication and how kids can use these figures as inspiration on their way to becoming happy, successful adults.

I bought this for my 12-year-old son, but it's also been read by his 9-year-old sister. The style is chatty and easy to read, and the real-life stories are inspiring for children and adults alike. It very much supports the 'growth mindset' that your limits are more usually set by your expectations than your abilities.
You Are Awesome -
Brilliant book - no home should be without one! Very easy to read - like the more modern style of writing - certainly gets the message across.
Great read! -
I bought this for my daughter who was starting secondary school. I thought it might give her a boost of confidence which it did! She couldn't put it down! It's full of interesting info, she especially liked the bits about famous failures.
It is awesome -
I bought this book to read through and help my grandson who has a fixed mindset at the moment. He is not the best reader, but he immediately took to the story and identified with the characters. I can also see why the style and layout will appeal to children and young people. Matthew Syed mixes his personal story with lots of practical and evidence-based tips and techniques. I thoroughly recommend it.
