M.C. Beaton fans will love hearing the first 10 books following the super sleuth detective's cases in audio format.

The country's most quick-witted but unambitious policeman, Hamish Macbeth resides in the village of Lochdubh in the Scottish Highlands. It's here where he investigates all kinds of quirky killings.

With beautiful descriptions of the area and a whole load of unexpected twists, these are gentle, clever and sharply observed cosy crime mysteries.

Lose yourself in these wonderfully gentle novels -

Well, I have to say that I have never seen the TV series, so Hamish was a newcomer to me. I listened to the first CD and was, frankly, quite underwhelmed if I am honest due to the length of time the story actually got going, and nearly gave up at that point.

However, I persisted and I am so glad that I did. What great, gentle storytelling this is, such fun is to be had with Hamish and his friends that you cannot help being immersed into his world and I now long for my commute, so I can listen again to my story.

Well worth a listen, you will not be sorry at all, and I am glad that I have found all the other books as audible files that I can access once my 10 CDs are finished.

Fine -

Can't fault the price - they are well read with characterisation in the most part, my sight going dodgy means these audio books are my future and though I will miss the physicality of a fine edition - I have 40 metres of folio editions in my over-stuffed library - good audio will be a boon - I have found some really ghastly narrators recently which makes me weary but now I check voices as well as I can before buying - I read aloud quite well myself and have been recording some of my true favourites in anticipation of blindness.

Hamish Macbeth Mysteries by M.C. Beaton -

Brilliant. Brought one for me and two for gifts. I've read the books, seen the TV series (that was disappointing) and now heard about the CD. CD was very good, read very well by David Monteath.
