Dr Ruth Galloway returns in The Stone Circle - the eleventh book in Elly Griffiths' bestselling series of archaeological mysteries.

DCI Nelson has been receiving threatening letters telling him to 'go to the stone circle and rescue the innocent who is buried there'. He is shaken, not only because children are very much on his mind, with Michelle's baby due to be born, but because although the letters are anonymous, they are somehow familiar...

They're reminiscent of the letters that first led him to Ruth, who is currently working on a dig at a henge in Saltmarsh. When bones belonging to a 12-year-old girl who disappeared 30 years previously are found, Ruth realises the past is reaching out for her and Nelson - and its grip is deadly...

Stone Circle -

As with all her previous books I was not disappointed. Very good twist and turns and we are still left guessing about what the future holds for Ruth and Nelson. I hope this is not the last book!!!!!!!!

Good characters -

Have read some, but not all of the Ruth Galloway books. Good interaction of well described characters, so although I hadn't read all the previous books it wasn't a problem working out relationships. Nice twist at end. Enjoyed.

Another Elly Griffiths good read -

From the first Elly Griffiths - Ruth Galloway series - I have loved these books and this lives up to mark. Because I have been there from the beginning I feel that there was too much on the past background of the characters but I suppose if you were reading this for the first time it is helpful. There were some very interesting twists and turns in The Stone Circle - I really enjoyed it.

The Stone Circle. -

I always enjoy her books and this latest offering did not disappoint. The interaction of Ruth Galloway with Harry Nelson and Cathbad is beautifully observed and well scripted. The haunting theme if historic child abuse serves to prevent over sentimentalism as the plot unfolds. I only hope any BBC adaptation stays true to character.
