Whether you're celebrating Halloween or have a spooky party coming up, the cupcakes featured in Lily Vanilli's A Zombie Ate My Cupcake may look gruesome - but they taste gorgeous!

Taking inspiration from the likes of insects, roadkill and zombies, the baking book shows how you can make almost anything scary in cake... And enjoy the sweet taste shortly afterwards! From Morbid Meringue Bones to Dark Chocolate Devil's Delight Cupcakes and a Dracula's Bite Red Velvet Cupcake with Cream Cheese, this is full of wickedly delicious ideas.

The book also provides advice on the materials you'll need to make these edible sculptures and provides ideas of things to do with natural ingredients.

Great adult book -

Not sure why this book is marketed as a child's cookbook? Adult wording throughout. Little too challenging for your average child! Thus lost a star rating... otherwise a great book. Have made several so far and went down ghoulishly.

"Fun time" -

I bought this book as my daughter is getting married on the Halloween weekend & wanted a special table in the evening to cater for the kids. This book is brilliant, I am looking forward to seeing the kids faces when they see them, especially my 9 yr old grandson.

"Not just for Halloween" -

I bought this for a Halloween disco I was catering for my son and everyone went so mad with the recipes that someone swiped the book! I loved it so much that I bought another copy - the recipes and ideas are so fun that it's worth hosting a horror-themed party just to use it! Love it!

"Very imaginative!" -

This book is great if you have a little boy. My son loves the look of all of these cakes. Some are grotesque and scary and others are plain cute. I have not yet had chance to make these as the recipes are not the quickest, and do call for things like buttermilk and specific food colourings. I cannot wait to try them out for my son's Halloween birthday party. If you want to bake something different or be inspired for Halloween - buy this book.

"Fab!" -

Love this. I haven't followed any of the recipes yet from start to finish, but they all seem simple, even if it gets a bit tricky at the point of decoration. As I was short on time, I made the zombie finger cakes (as seen on the cover) with shop-bought muffins, whipping up some icing and making just one finger for each. The kids loved them. I get the feeling that making a full batch (I only did 4) of some of the more elaborate cakes could drive me to distraction but I'm still keen to try more. Not all the designs are gruesome - the rainbow cake and angel ones are pretty.
