Rose Meliken -

I bought this set of books because they were cheap and I love female-based historical novels, they are a brilliant set of books and the main heroine is not a love sick silly girl, but a strong-minded and intelligent woman. This is a must read if you like your women with a brain, she is a brilliant spy if unwilling.

Brilliant -

A great set of books. I actually wasn't prepared for how much I'd like them as the blurb makes them sound rather melodramatic. The heroine is likeable and bright, the imagery entertaining and believeable. She's beautiful it's true, but if you want to read a sweeping romance, this isn't the book. There's a wee dusting of it, but she's far too pragmatic to have the swoon-worthy romances in other books (not to say that she doesn't fall in love, and there isn't a very interesting hero - just that she's sensible). The storylines are great - interesting and some nice twists, but overall a nice set of books for the beach.
