Written in the form of a series of letters from a shy and introspective teenager, Stephen Chbosky's The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a moving, unforgettable novel in the tradition of The Catcher in the Rye. Charlie is an intelligent but awkward high school student who always seems to find himself standing on the sidelines, watching while his peers get on with life. Through a series of letters written to an anonymous friend, Charlie reveals his hopes and dreams as things start to change and new friendships bring encounters with parties, drugs and dating. The hit film adaptation starring Logan Lerman, Ezra Miller and Emma Watson is sure to add to this book's iconic status.
This book is by far one of the best I have ever read. An absolute need on any bookcase, it is poignant, approaches situations delicately and is just overall brilliant. More and more brings this book to life, the fantastic, believeable and well- rounded characters are thrust into situations most modern-day teenagers still face. If you want to read a wonderful, timeless book, this is the one for you!! Enjoy! Xxx
