The debut novel from award-winning YouTube phenomenon Zoella (or Zoe Sugg), Girl Online is a semi-autobiographical tale of romance that tackles many of the issues that modern teens have to deal with today - such as cyber bullying, self-esteem and anxiety.

Penny has a secret. She's the girl behind GirlOnline, an online teen lifestyle blog where she anonymously 'pens' the goings on of her life: school dramas, boys, her mad family - and the panic attacks that she has been suffering from lately. As the panic attacks worsen, Penny's parents take her on a trip to New York where she meets Noah, a guitar-wielding heartthrob, and Penny soon starts to fall in love. But Noah has a secret too, and this secret could ruin Penny's cover...

Having established herself as a big sister to the 6 million plus subscribers on her Zoella YouTube channel, Zoe Sugg's Girl Online is a compelling story of a modern girl who readers aged 11 and above will both sympathise and associate with.

Red House Reader Review

Reader review: Girl Online - Hardback - 9780141357270

The storyline is about a girl called Penny who goes on a trip to New York with her parents who have to plan a wedding. She soon meets a boy called Noah, and the story goes on from there.

It was easy to read and the storyline flowed smoothly. There is a lot of drama and mishaps, but that adds to the story and makes it exciting.

It was really good to read a book written by somebody I am a big fan of, and Zoella has written it really well. It doesn't get confusing which some books do, and again it was really easy to read and everything clicked together like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle.

The story has really good features of a story written for kids like the stereotypical mean girl, the close best friend, and the boyfriend.

Over all, I give this book a strong 5/5!
